Dick Johnson Racing has revealed its new-look Gen3 Ford Mustang, just five weeks ahead of the first race of the 2023 season in Newcastle.
The team once again carries the backing of Shell and Repco, with an evolutionary livery that follows the lines of the new S650 Mustang coupe. Drivers Will Davison and Anton De Pasquale revealed the car on this morning’s Today Show on Channel Nine.

While the driver line-up and sponsors are unchanged, there have been some major changes behind-the-scenes at DJR, with the Ralph family taking majority ownership of the team from Ryan Story, who reduced his stake but remains chairman. The new owners have appointed former AFL coach, David Noble as CEO of the team, but veteran Ben Croke remains team principal and looks after the on-track operations.
Despite DJR being the official Ford homologation team for the Gen3 Supercars it wasn’t the first to get the new-generation cars on track. That title belongs to the Blanchard Racing Team, which hit the track at Winton on February 1.

Team owner Tim Blanchard gave the car its initial shakedown laps before new driver Todd Hazelwood did the majority of the running.
All Supercar teams are facing a race to the startline at Newcastle in order to get their Gen3 cars built. The new cars are still awaiting final parity sign-off from Supercars as Ford and Chevrolet differ over the competitive balance between the two cars.
More teams are expected to complete their first cars this week, including Triple Eight Race Engineering, with a flurry of testing planned ahead of the Newcastle street race on March 10-12.
