Lowndes will take part in the Shannons Adelaide Rally Prima Tour and Main Tour at the wheel a new C8 Corvette, with wife Lara as co-driver. He’ll also be the guest speaker at the Prima Tour lunch on the Friday of the event (November 8) and will be part of other aspects of the event such as the Gouger Street Party on the Saturday night and Strathalbyn Lunch Stop and Town Stage on the Sunday.

Lowndes did win three of his seven Bathurst wins in a Ford but the bulk of his success in Australian touring car racing came with Holden and General Motors: four Bathurst wins and three Australian Touring Car Championships. Lowndes’ association with GM continues today with his role as a enduro co-driver in the Triple Eight Camaro wildcard entry at Bathurst this year.

The Shannons Adelaide Rally (from November 8-10) is one of the largest tarmac rally events in the world, based in Adelaide with 30 stages across three days in and around the picturesque Adelaide Hills. Categories range from the outright Competition class to non-competitive touring categories such as the Prima Tour (single day) and Main Tour (three days). Highlights of the event include the Gouger Street Party on the Saturday evening, the town stage in the heart of Strathalbyn on the Sunday and spectator stages at the likes of Stirling/Aldgate (Wairoa Stage), Mount Lofty, Sturt Valley and more, with the spectator stages, the street party and lunch stops free community events.
