Ford Australia has confirmed that 500 2026 model year Mustang Dark Horses have been earmarked for Australia. But the big news is the announcement of a collaboration with Triple Eight Race Engineering to create the T8-Spec Pack Dark Horse.

The T8-Spec will be produced as a limited edition run of 250 units, which is in addition to the 500 ‘regular’ Dark Horse Mustangs.

It is being offered as a Ford Licensed Accessory Pack, with the T8-Spec cars being upfitted by Ford Australia at its Plant 2 facility in Broadmeadows in Melbourne.

“The Mustang Dark Horse is already the pinnacle of performance, but T8-Spec takes it to a new level of track-focused capability,” said Ford Australia’s director of marketing, Ambrose Henderson.

“By partnering with Triple Eight Race Engineering, we’ve created a vehicle that not only celebrates our racing heritage but offers our most passionate enthusiast customers a globally unique, bespoke numbered collector's item vehicle, upfit right here in Melbourne.”

The T8-Spec boasts bigger wheels and tyres (19x10.5-inch front and 19x11-inch rear alloys with Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS 305/30R19 fronts and 315/30R19 rears), larger rear spoiler and an enhanced front splitter (track only), revised MagneRide suspension tune plus stiffer springs and roll bars. The T8-Spec will only be available with the Tremec six-speed manual transmission. Those wanting an auto will have to settle for the regular Dark Horse.

As the pics show, the visual T8 designation is understated, with discreet Triple Eight branding, black roof, bonnet decals Triple Eight branded scuff plates, unique gear shift knob, and a sequentially numbered build plate.

Triple Eight will be hosting a track day for T8-Spec Pack owners at Queensland Raceway in the first half of 2027.

"All of us at Triple Eight Race Engineering are incredibly proud to be partnering with Ford, and the Mustang Dark Horse T8-Spec is a fantastic way to celebrate our return to the track with the Blue Oval,” said Triple Eight Race boss Jamie Whincup.

“This collaboration allows us to take our championship-winning expertise and apply it to a road going performance icon. We are looking forward to meeting these 250 passionate customers at Queensland Raceway and showing them exactly what this vehicle is capable of in a track environment."

The 2026 Mustang Dark Horse with T8-Spec Pack retails at $138,888; the regular Dark Horse starts at $104,990.
