The Nissan 240Z arrived in 1969 as Japan’s answer to the popular American pony cars including the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro. While it lacked the V8 engine, it emphasised handling and style and quickly became an iconic member for the Japanese brand’s line-up.

Fast forward to 2022 and the seventh generation of the Z sports car has arrived, following the same formula as the original. It’s a stylish coupe with design references to all of its predecessors, the handling remains a focus but for this latest model it has more power than ever before.

Calling it an ‘all-new’ model is disingenuous, as it’s based on an updated version of the same underpinnings from the 370Z that preceded it - which itself was an evolution of the platform used for the 350Z.
