Expatriate Aussie Kenny Habul has etched his name into the Australian motor racing history books with his win in the 2022 Liqui Moly Bathurst 12 Hour. Habul shared the victory in his Mercedes-Benz GT3 AMG with Austrian ace Martin Konrad, German Luca Stolz and Frenchman Jules Gounon – a winner the last time this race was held, in 2020, just weeks before the Covid19 pandemic took hold. When asked after the race what it meant to him to win at a place synonymous with one of his heroes, Peter Brock, an emotional Habul delivered this vintage Bathurst victory speech: “Brocky was so good to me when I was a kid. I had a rough childhood and he took me in and looked after me when I was 12 or 13 years old. He is such an incredible inspiration in my life. Thanks to Mercedes-AMG and thanks to everyone. Thanks to the Mountain. Thanks to the town of Bathurst for this. Thanks to Australia! This is the greatest track in the world!”
