Wet and wild: Bathurst 1974
It was the wettest Bathurst 500/1000 yet held and arguably the most exciting as Kevin Bartlett fended off the late-race challenge from Bob Forbes’ Torana L34. KB still needed a walking stick (after the leg injuries he sustained in a Formula 5000 shunt earlier in the year) to get around but in the sodden conditions there could be no safer or more skilled pair of hands to guide the John Goss McLeod Ford Falcon Hardtop to victory.
