Matt Stone Racing became the first Supercars team to test its race-ready Gen3 Chevrolet Camaro at Queensland Raceway today (Tuesday, February 7).
The team’s drivers, Jack La Brocq and rookie Cameron Hill reportedly both turned laps today in the new Camaro. The car was unpainted in parts and only featured simple Truck Assist signage given the rushed nature of the Gen3 builds with the season opener fast approaching.

Matt Stone Racing became the first Chevrolet team to build a Gen3 racer outside of the bow tie brand’s homologation partner, Triple Eight Race Engineering.

Joining the Camaro on track at the Ipswich circuit was Dick Johnson Racing with its Gen3-spec Ford Mustang, which was revealed in its new Shell V-Power livery yesterday. Both team drivers, Will Davison and Anton De Pasquale, drove the new Mustang but no lap times were officially reported.

Teams have been granted unlimited shakedown testing opportunities by Supercars as the field is in a race against time to get ready for the new Gen3 era to begin on March 10 at Newcastle. The other key date teams will have in mind is February 22, when Supercars will host an open test at Sydney Motorsport Park to give teams a chance for extra mileage and to see how they stack up against their competitors.
