The Lion will roar one more time, with Walkinshaw Andretti United bringing back the iconic ‘lion and helmet’ livery made famous during its Holden Racing Team days.
This weekend’s Adelaide 500 will mark the end of Holden’s time in top-level touring car racing in this country, as well as Walkinshaw Andretti United’s final race with the brand ahead of switch to Ford in 2023.
To celebrate both milestones the brand’s ZB Commodores are finished in a white and blue livery that harks back to the earliest days of the Holden Racing Team - run by current WAU co-owner, Ryan Walkinshaw’s father, Tom.

WAU team principal, Bruce Stewart, said it was appropriate for the team to pay tribute to Holden after starting 404 rounds and winning 187 races across a 27 year run with the brand.
“We wanted to do something special for the last ever Holden race, and it just wouldn’t be right if we didn’t have the lion and the helmet on the side of our cars for one last time, we know how much it means to so many people,” Stewart said.
“This team has had such a long a storied history with Holden, we bled red, our fans bled red, so for the final roar, it’s only fitting we reflect back on the journey we’ve had and thank everyone involved, from the fans who have supported us through thick and thin, the thousands of people who contributed to Holden over its journey, and everyone here who has been a part of our team.”

The two Commodores will be raced by Chaz Mostert and Nick Percat and still sport their usual respective sponsors, Optus and NTI.
A limited edition polo shirt based on the livery and celebrating the team’s glory days of HRT has launched to coincide with this weekend’s race.
