The six-round 2026 Mustang Cup Australia will run as a part of the SRO SpeedSeries. The car is the Mustang Dark Horse R, a track-only competition car derived from the road-going Mustang Dark Horse model.
The Dark Horse R featured at the recent Le Mans 24 Hour meeting, with Australian Cameron McLeod impressively winning two Mustang Challenge invitational races support races.

"The Mustang Dark Horse R was designed to be a turnkey race car to provide a thrilling, accessible, and competitive platform for drivers," said Mark Rushbrook, Global Director, Ford Performance.
"Seeing it embraced by our team in Australia and set to form a new national championship is fantastic. The success of Cameron McLeod at Le Mans showed the world what talented young drivers can do in this car, and bringing that level of competition to Australia is a vital addition to the global Mustang racing ecosystem."
Driving Solutions has been contracted by Ford to help promote and manage the series. Driving Solutions recently supported vehicle and team logistics as a part of the Ford Performance class-winning Finke Desert Race.
Respected Australian motorsport administrator Liam Curkpatrick has joined the Driving Solutions Events team, and has been appointed Mustang Cup Australia Category Manager.
