V8 Supercar collectors will have a tough choice at this weekend’s Lloyds Auction with a trio of famous racers up for grabs.
The cars on offer are Larry Perkins’ Holden Commodore VX, Craig Lowndes’ Ford Performance Racing Ford Falcon BA and a Holden Racing Team VZ Commodore raced by Todd Kelly.
All three cars have historical significance too.
Perkins used his Castrol-backed Commodore in the 2002 championship which marked his last season as a full-time driver.

The Lowndes Falcon also recorded a major milestone because this was the car in which he won FPR’s first race as the blue oval’s factory team. It’s still finished in Caterpillar livery in which Lowndes raced it during the 2003 season.
Last, but by no means least, is Kelly’s 2005 HRT Commodore. This car up for sale is reportedly the final chassis built by the Clayton-based outfit before the ownership struggles between Holden, Mark Skaife and Tom Walkinshaw.
This was the car Skaife used to claim pole position for the 2006 Bathurst 1000, and is fitted with the black bonnet Holden added as a tribute to the late Peter Brock.

Lee Hames, Chief Operating Officer for Lloyds Auctions, is anticipating a nationwide bidding contest for this famous Supercars.
“These are three iconic championship winning cars that are extremely rare which we have had great interest in from right around the country and we are excited to see them go to their new custodians,” he said.
The cars will be sold as part of Lloyds’ two-day auction this weekend (September 24-25) with the three V8 Supercars set to hit the sale block at 7pm on Sunday.
