The legendary Warwick Farm motor racing opened for business on December 18, 1960. It was a trail run ahead of the arrival of some of the world's top Formula 1 stars in the Tasman Cup race early the next year, but as this newsreel footage shows the circuit's first meeting was almost a total washout. It was so wet that sections of the brand new track were completely flooded - and yet racing went on. It wouldn't happen like that today...
