It was the hero Holden needed, but never built.

The Lion brand stole the headlines and attention at the 2008 Melbourne International Motor Show with its striking Coupe 60 concept. Officially it was a 60th birthday present to itself and purely a design study, but it had much more potential than that.

Built on the General Motors ‘Zeta’ platform, this was meant to be Australia’s answer to the Chevrolet Camaro and had the potential to wear the Monaro nameplate again. The revived Monaro had only disappeared two years previously, so seemingly the timing was right to bring it back, now that the new Zeta-based VE Commodore had launched.
