Situated in the Lake Macquarie region, around 90 minutes to Sydney’s north, the ambitious project is described as being much more than simply a new motor racing facility.
Billed as a ‘luxury motorsport retreat’, Black Rock Motor Resort aims to combine the luxury of a private country club with world class motorsport experiences. The venue will combine top-tier driving and training facilities with premium accommodation, fine dining, and rejuvenating wellness experiences.

Work has already begun on construction, with Stage 1 set for completion in mid-2026 and Stage 2 in mid-2027. The facility's centrepiece will be a Tilke-designed 5.4km FIA Grade 2 circuit, with an 800m main straight, 23 corners and 165m of elevation change.
“Securing the support of a highly credentialed capital firm is not just a vote of confidence for our plans, but also the progress we have made to date, said Tony Palmer, CEO and founder of Black Rock Motor Resort, said.
“Black Rock Motor Resort is an ambitious project, but our funding partner got the vision, understood the long-term potential and realised that what we were proposing wasn’t just another racetrack, but a lifestyle, a sanctuary for those who live and breathe exceptional high-performance and luxury experiences".

The Black Rock Motor Resort takes its name from the former Rhonda Colliery, an underground coal mine that operated from 1895 to the early 1970s on the site. In one of the miner’s diaries was found an entry celebrating the moment of ‘hitting the black rock’.
