The ex-Bob Morris Ron Hodgson Motors Torana will be seen in action on track in the PremiAir Hire Bathurst winners’ category at the Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival on March 16-17.

Victory in this car in the ’76 race was Bob Morris’ only Bathurst triumph, but it was one for the ages, culminating in a dramatic, nail-biting finish as co-driver Fitzpatrick nursed the car home with smoke billowing out the rear from a leaking gearbox seal. The TV footage of a tearful Morris standing in the pits, fingers crossed as he watched those final laps unfold remain today among the most enduring images of the Great Race.

The Torana, along with the 1965 Bathurst-winning Ford Cortina Mk1 GT 500, appears in Adelaide courtesy of the National Motor Racing Museum in Bathurst.

The PremiAir Hire Bathurst winners’ category is new for the 2024 Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival. In addition to the just-announced Morris/Fitpatrick L34, other original Bathurst 500/1000 winners will include the two-time winning Holden Dealer Team VH SS Commodore (1982 and 1983) and Triple Eight Holden ZB Commodore (2020 and 2022) plus the Nissan Skyline GT-R R32s that won in 1991 and 1992. More Bathurst winners will be announced in the coming weeks.

Held the week prior to the Australian Grand Prix weekend, the Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival is a museum in motion, displaying historic, rare and significant racing vehicles on the Victoria Park section of the old Adelaide Parklands Street Circuit.

Categories featuring V8 Supercars, Group C and A touring cars, Formula 1 and sportscars will be seen over the course of the Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival, in addition to on-track demonstrations, off-track displays, villas and more. For more information and tickets, click here.
