General Motors was out of luck in the Bathurst 12 Hour debut of the Corvette Z06 GT3.R, but the works-backed Corvette team acquitted itself well – the Alex Sims/Nicky Catsburg/Earl Bamber entry was in a position to potentially pull off a surprise first-up victory just a few hours from home when Bamber crashed out.

To celebrate the Corvette’s first appearance on the Mountain, GM Specialty Vehicles (GMSV) has announced a limited-release MY26 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Bathurst 12 Hour Specialty Edition model.

The Bathurst 12 Hour Specialty Edition has been conceived as the road‑legal counterpart to the Corvette Z06 GT3.R, developed from both the GT3.R GT3 racer and the track-focused 3LZ Coupe with Z07 Performance Package. Just 12 cars will be built, exclusively for Australia and New Zealand. Each will be individually numbered 01 to 12 and finished in a highly customised configuration.

In addition to the bespoke treatment of the vehicle, every MY26 Corvette Z06 Bathurst 12 Hour Specialty Edition customer will also receive a tailored Bathurst 12 Hour experience and ownership package, including:

  • Bathurst 12 Hour Edition custom artwork print
  • Indoor car cover with fully rendered Corvette GT3.R graphic
  • Corvette Racing merchandise pack, including cap, polo and jacket

“Corvette has played a major role in the success of GMSV, and the passion we see from fans in Australia and New Zealand is extraordinary,” said Jess Bala, Managing Director, General Motors Australia and New Zealand. “Pairing our first Bathurst 12 Hour campaign for the Corvette Z06 GT3.R with a bespoke road car for our local customers is a fitting way to celebrate the next chapter in Corvette’s performance story here.”
