Meet the man who created what many consider the most memorable Australian automotive advertising line of all time.

Jack Vaughan was a 27-year-old senior writer at the Young & Rubicam advertising agency in Adelaide when he thought up the famous ‘Hey Charger’ slogan with accompanying two-finger victory salute.

The Young & Rubicam agency’s Adelaide crew. Jack Vaughan (circled), then 27, delivered big time for his boss Y&R MD Al Haggar (seated) and his client, Chrysler Australia.

Almost 40 years later he’s amazed that the ‘Hey Charger’ campaign is still remembered and so widely known, even by those who weren’t born when Chrysler launched this car.
