The 1974 model Monaro coupe was discovered in a farm shed in the Illawarra region of the NSW south coast. It’s said to have been off the road for some 30 years, and has been in storage since around 2006.

As can be seen in the photos, the car appears to be in good condition inside and out and remains largely original. The black vinyl interior is in good order and the Monaro’s Barbados Green exterior appears to be largely free of scrapes, stone chips and dents.

The car had a front subframe change in the 1980s. It can’t be confirmed whether or not the engine is the original factory L31 5.0-litre V8 – although there’s a chance it is as QT-prefixed engine block is date coded April 1974 (the car left the factory in May 1974).

The transmission is the M21 four-speed manual, driving through a GV2 Salisbury diff.

It shows 78,067km on the clock, and was last registered in 2006. An original owner’s manual, old NSW registration paper and the original radio are with the car, along with a second set of deep-dish wheels/tyres (the Monaro was photographed with a mix of wheels, due to it having two flat tyres when pulled from the shed).

Donington Auctions confirms there is no reserve listed, and the car will go up for auction at Donington’s Collector Car & Number Plate Auction on March 30.
