In 1969 Ford dealer Ira Berk hired a group of strippers (sorry, make that go-go girls) to launch their new sales yard at Maroubra Junction. The babes performed on platforms mounted on top of new Falcons and Fairmonts while pop band “The Inbetween” played live.
The gimmick wasn’t as silly as it seems. At the time the Falcon was the biggest seller in the under 30 youth market and, back then, most new car buyers were very much male. Bet they sold heaps.
