The Falcon coupe that never was

Had Al Turner had his way, the Falcon XY GT-HO would have taken the form of a two-door coupe – and it would have looked something like the ‘styling exercise’ XT GT which Ford's then competition boss flaunted at motor shows in 1969. To fully understand why Victorian Ford enthusiast Con Delaveris built himself a replica of a two-door XT Falcon motor show concept car, we need to jump into a time machine and teleport 50 years back to 1969.

Now, Con did not make it to that year’s Melbourne Motor Show, but after reading about this special Falcon in car magazine reports of the time, he soon came to regret missing it.

Those who did make it to the historic Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton in March, ’69, saw some historically significant dream machines from exhibitors other than just Ford.
