They do things differently in Western Australia, where in the 1970s tourists were invited to “relax in a state of excitement.”

Part of this excitement was the racing at Wanneroo Park, now Barbagallo Raceway, where the promoters encouraged new competitors by introducing a Street Car category.

Unique at the time, this was for any road-registered sedan or sports car running on street tyres. And we’re not talking about R-spec tyres.
