Zak Brown is a busy man as co-owner of Walkinshaw Andretti United and CEO of McLaren Racing, but he’s a racer at heart. Which is why he took time to jump behind the wheel of some of his personally owned classic race cars last weekend, hitting the USA’s famous Laguna Seca Raceway in an ex-Holden Racing Team V8 Supercar.

Brown owns the 2011 Bathurst 1000 winning Holden Commodore VE and took part in the Velocity Invitational, a mixed class racing showcase held last weekend at the California circuit.

The former HRT machine is just part of an extensive collection of cars owned by Brown and has been used on multiple occasions by him as a perk for his McLaren drivers. Spanish F1 star Carlos Sainz Jr and his rallying champion father have both driven the car that Garth Tander and Nick Percat drove to victory at Mount Panorama.

The car was run by Brown’s other racing team, United Autosports, and he finished fifth in the final race of the weekend, competing against a mixed grid of sportscars and touring cars.

He also hit the track in one of his other cars, a 1970s Ford Capri touring car. He finished in sixth place in that race.
